In an interview for Turner Classic Movies honoring Montgomery Clift, Elizabeth Taylor said "Raintree County" was her first "grown up" role, where she was not acting with children or horses. She off-handedly described herself as "this Hollywood thing," awestruck by the brilliant, professionally trained, charismatic New York "stage" actor Montgomery Clift. The film received an Oscar nomination for costume design, as did Elizabeth Taylor for best actress.

A bored and sheltered princess escapes her guardians and falls in love with an American newsman in Rome. One of my favorite scenes of the movie is when she is so regal and loses her shoe due to boredom and her squire has to push it back under her dress without anyone knowing so she can put it back on.
Cassablanca (1943), Starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. A true classic about the days of WWII when an American expatriate meets a former lover, with unforseen complications. This set won 11th place in the Casablanca contest.

Please Do Not Eat the Daisies (1960) - Please Don't Eat the Daisies (New York: Doubleday, 1957) is a best-selling collection of humorous essays by American humorist and playwright Jean Kerr about suburban living and raising four boys. The essays do not have a plot or through-storyline, but the book sold so well it was later adapted into a film (1960) starring Doris Day and David Niven. The film was later adapted into a television series starring Patricia Crowley and Mark Miller.
Shakespeare in Love (1998), Directed by John Madden, Starring Joseph Fiennes. A young Shakespeare, out of ideas and short of cash, meets his ideal woman and is inspired to write one of his most famous plays.

Funny Girl (1968) - American musical film directed by William Wyler. The screenplay by Isobel Lennart was adapted from her book for the stage musical of the same title. It is based on the life and career of Broadway and film star and comedienne Fanny Brice and her stormy relationship with entrepreneur and gambler Nicky Arnstein.
The film was produced by Brice's son-in-law, Ray Stark. The score is by Bob Merrill (lyrics) and Jule Styne (music). Barbra Streisand, reprising her Broadway role, won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance, an honor she shared with Katharine Hepburn for The Lion in Winter.
Southerners really do eat fried green tomatoes; and they eat fried red tomatoes too. If you haven't tried them, you're in for a treat! There are plenty of ways to coat and fry your tomatoes; use bread crumbs, cracker crumbs, cornmeal, or flour. Some people dip them in beaten eggs before dredging, while some just dredge then fry. Salt and pepper them first, and use a little bacon grease for flavor if you have it.

Freaky Friday (2003); Starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan; An overworked mother and her daughter do not get along. When they switch bodies, each is forced to adapt to the others life for one freaky Friday. As a mother of a teen-age daughter, I can relate to this movie and say that if this happened to us, it would be quite Freaky! I won 1st place in the "Freaky Friday" contest for this entry.
Out of Africa (1985) film based loosely on the autobiographical book by Isak Dinesen (pseudonym of Karen Blixen) published in 1937, as well as Dinesen's Shadows on the Grass and other sources. The movie received 28 film awards, including seven Academy Awards. The film was adapted by Kurt Luedtke and directed by Sydney Pollack. It starred Meryl Streep (as Baroness Karen von Blixen-Finecke), Robert Redford (as Denys Finch Hatton), Klaus Maria Brandauer (as Baron Bror von Blixen-Finecke), Michael Kitchen (as Berkeley Cole), Malick Bowens (as Farah), Stephen Kinyanjui (as Chief), Michael Gough (Delamere), Suzanna Hamilton (as Felicity, who is based on famous aviatrix Beryl Markham), and supermodel Iman (in a cameo role as Mariammo).
Grease is a 1978 musical film directed by Randal Kleiser and based on Jim Jacobs' and Warren Casey's stage musical of the same name. The film stars John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing, Jeff Conaway, and Eve Arden. It was originally released to theaters on June 16, 1978. It was filmed mostly at Huntington Park Senior High School in Huntington Park, CA, Excelsior High School in Norwalk, CA, as well as Venice High School in Venice, California. It was released in the U.S. on VHS during the 1980s; the latest VHS release was June 23, 1998 as 20th Anniversary Edition following a theatrical re-release that March. On September 24, 2002, it was released on DVD for the first time. On September 19, 2006, it was re-released on DVD as the Rockin' Rydell Edition, which includes new bonus features and a black Rydell High T-Bird jacket cover or the Target-exclusive Pink Ladies cover. There is a Blu-Ray release scheduled for May 5, 2009.
With Six You Get Eggroll (1968) is a family comedy, starring Doris Day and Brian Keith. Other cast members include George Carlin, Jamie Farr, William Christopher, Barbara Hershey, Alice Ghostley and Pat Carroll. Day plays Abby McClure, a widow who owns a lumberyard and who has three sons. Later, she reconnects with old family friend and widower Jake Iverson (Keith) who has a teenage daughter. They start dating and eventually decide to get married. They're not prepared for the hostile reactions from their children--the only positive is with 6 you get eggroll!

Hair (1979). This movie, based on the cult Broadway musical of the 60s, tells a story about Claude, a young man from Oklahoma who comes to New York City. There he strikes up a friendship with a group of hippies, led by Berger, and falls in love with Sheila, a girl from a rich family. However, their happiness is short because Claude must go to the Vietnam war. Written by Dragan Antulov and starring Treat Williams, Beverly D'Angelo, John Savage and others. Several of the songs from its score became Top 40 hits, and a feature film adaptation was released in 1979.
